Chris Brown is a Rapper? Since when?

Now this was about a couple of weeeks ago, but I couldn’t help and think about what I heard still!  It irritated me thouroughly. So I have a quick question…when did Chris Brown become a rapper?  I’m a little confused.  I was listening to CNN America Morning, while waiting on a flight in the airport, and the anchorwoman referred to Chris Brown as a rapper?  Wait what? A rapper, because I could have sworn the man actually just sings, and dances even dabbles in acting, but rap?  Never.  This lackadaisical reference to Chris Brown’s occupation had me wondering about the implications of the message the news was portraying.  Are they insinuating that only rappers do violent acts, and an R & B singer could not do such a violent crime, or do they not care to be accurate about his occupation because all Black people are rappers? Maybe I’m overreacting but whatever the case may be, I would expect more from CNN.
